The group is led by founder and chief executive AJ Smith, alongside a senior operating team with real experience — ventures founded, exits completed, and technology companies taken to public listings on the ASX and NZX. Deep experience across five countries and three decades in fintech, trade-technology, supply-chain digitisation and cross-border structuring.
AJ Smith
AJ Smith founded X77 Ventures after two decades building and listing technology businesses across five countries. He is the founder and former Chief Executive of TradeWindow, the digital-trade software company he took from zero to a listing on the NZX and then a dual listing on the ASX under the ticker TWL, and where he later served as a non-executive director.
His operating background spans trade technology, supply-chain digitisation, financial technology and cross-border structuring, with capital raised and deals closed across New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, the United States and South Africa. That work covers both sides of the table — building the company and sitting on the board that governs it.
At X77 he sets capital allocation across the group’s divisions, chairs the operating cadence, and works directly with the founders and managing directors who run each business. He is based between the Gold Coast, Queensland and Dubai, UAE.
